How to Lead UP When You're Not In Charge
Tuesday Jan 19, 2021
Tuesday Jan 19, 2021
Today's conversation between Chad Kneller, Martevious Young and I is in response to a talk from Craig Groeschel about how to lead UP when you aren't the person in charge.
Here are some of the high points:
Leading UP when you're not in charge is such an important topic since the reality is that the majority of people aren't actually "in charge" with regard to the official position they are in. We all have the opportunity to lead if we are willing to see that opportunity for what it is.
Every one of us can choose to empower, trust, train and develop the people around us, but we must have the wisdom to invest in them and the humility to allow them to learn and fail!
The most secure leaders are all about empowering others and releasing them to really have the authority to make decisions and lead!
You don't have to be in charge to lead! You can be a leader from wherever you ARE. Leadership is simply influence and people will follow a leader with a heart long before they'll follow a leader that just has a title.
Showing honor matters! Respect is earned -- honor is given. Give honor UP and give honor DOWN and it will create room for you to grow in leadership.

Forces That Affect Your Influence
Tuesday Jan 12, 2021
Tuesday Jan 12, 2021
Today's conversation between Chad Kneller, Martevious Young and I is in response to an amazing interview between Craig Groeschel and Sadie Robertson Huff from the Global Leadership Summit.
Here are some of the high points:
Authenticity and vulnerability are what the next generation are craving from us as leaders.
The books you read and the people you meet have a massive impact on who you become.
Become a person who asks a LOT of questions.
All things worthwhile are generally on the other side of FEAR.
Parents -- speak LIFE over your children. Her grandmother would speak over her every day "Be a good leader and example TODAY."
Most of you are leading right now, even if you don't realize it. Make sure in every conversation and interaction, you remember that you are making an impact in one way or another.
Leadership is influence! Do you have a team that you're influencing and a team that is helping you influence others?

What If YOU Could Train Your Mind Like an NBA Player?!
Tuesday Jan 05, 2021
Tuesday Jan 05, 2021
Today's conversation between Chad Kneller, Martevious Young and I is in response to an amazing interview from Ed Mylett of David Nurse on how to train your mind like the elite performers in the NBA do.
Here are some of the high points:
Everything in life happens FOR you and not TO you.
You may not be ready to go ALL IN on something... but anyone can make consistent SMALL pivots. When you're being surrounded by the opposition, it generally doesn't take a 50% jump to find the window of escape, it usually just takes small consistent 1% pivots to find a way to move that situation forward.
It can take 10 years to become an overnight success.
When you hold onto things too tightly, inevitably you'll lose those things. We need to life with open hands and hold to that which is dear to us loosely.
Change your language - could you use the word opportunity or challenge instead of problem?
VISUALIZATION - High performing athletes never win for the first time when they actually cross the finish line... they visualize that victory thousands of times prior to ever even competing. Our mind doesn't know the difference between reality and our internal visualization of success.
The majority of people struggle with self confidence. You have 50,000 self talk thoughts per day. 80% tend to be negative. The elite performers are able to reprogram those thoughts to where at least 80% are in the positive category!!

Training for Success
Tuesday Dec 29, 2020
Tuesday Dec 29, 2020
Today's conversation between Chad Kneller and I is in response to an amazing message from Anthony Truck on how to TRAIN for success. It doesn't just appear - you have to prepare and work for it every single day!
Here are some of the high points:
Have you ever battled the feelings of "imposter syndrome?" This conversation has the potential to destroy it in your life forever!!
If you're willing to CHANGE from within, your life can change completely.
It's inspiring to hear from someone who is willing to be totally transparent about his failures and struggles & how he overcame them!
It's not the information you have access to... it's what you DO WITH IT!!
What you create helps create what you become!
Saying you're something vs. saying what you're trying to be is more than just semantics because of what you believe!
You can never do anything the way someone else did it... God designed you uniquely to write the story he has for YOU!

How To Be A True Leader
Friday Dec 18, 2020
Friday Dec 18, 2020
Today's conversation between Chad Kneller, Martevious Young and I is in response to a talk from Tony Robbins about how to be a TRUE leader.
Here are some of the high points:
We don't get our goals - we get our MUSTS. When something becomes SO important you have to have it.
Who you spend time with is who you eventually become! Are you intentionally hanging out with people who are ahead of you in where you want to go?
Compete with where you CAN be.
8pm to 2am -- those are the hours that can move the needle even when you're working full time during the day.
Income is a result of your standards.
Become aware of your limiting beliefs and then destroy your limiting beliefs.
We FIND what we look for.
What are FIVE things that you've already accomplished in life that you're proud of that you used to think you would never be able to do? This will help remind you that you CAN do so much more!
Give more than everyone could possibly expect. When you're at your best, you're GIVING!

The Time Is NOW To Separate Yourself From The Herd
Friday Dec 18, 2020
Friday Dec 18, 2020
Today's conversation between Stefani Dunn, Martevious Young and I is in response to an amazing message from Ed Mylett on how THIS is truly the time to take steps to separate yourself from what everyone else is doing (or not doing)!
Here are some of the high points:
Some people LIVE in planning mode... you need to make the shift into execution mode!
There is a difference between leaders and those who simply want to belong. Are you willing to step OUT of what's comfortable to start pushing yourself and challenging those around you to become BETTER.
Throughout your year, create separation moments and throughout each week... look for opportunities to take back even more ground. When are the windows with others are unwilling to work that you can make progress?
You work from 9-5 to make a living... but wealth is often built in the 6-8 and on Saturday!

This Conversation Can Change Your Life
Tuesday Dec 15, 2020
Tuesday Dec 15, 2020
Today's conversation between Chad Kneller, Martevious Young and I is in response to a conversation between Ed Mylett & Les Brown about life transformation.
Here are some of the high points:
Life is a FIGHT for territory. Once you stop fighting for what you want, what you DON'T want takes over. We are either gaining ground and moving forward or we are losing ground on who we are called to be.
What is the driving force behind your WHY. For Les Brown, his was that he got to use his voice to help his mother.
For Chad, being 7300 miles from his family when he was in the military became his WHY so that he is willing to fight to protect the ability to be CLOSE to his family and have the margin to spend time with them!!
From the ages of 0 to 5, we learn what is available to us and what is not available to us. We all may have some serious reprogramming to do based on these years of experiences.
More than thirst of hunger, humans need stories! Don't be afraid of your story... don't be embarrassed by your story. Your story can inspire, encourage and connect you to other people in powerful ways!!

Why Leaders Should Learn To Forgive
Wednesday Dec 09, 2020
Wednesday Dec 09, 2020
Today's conversation between Chad Kneller, Martevious Young and I is the response to a conversation between Craig Groeschel and Lysa TerKeurst about the importance of forgiveness when you're in a place of leadership.
Here are some of the high points:
Bitterness rots the bones AND it leaks onto the people around you EVERY single time. The people you love end up paying the price for your unwillingness to forgive.
It's not "forgive and forget" ... but we do need to forgive what we cannot forget.
I desperately need grace so I need to freely give grace!
You can train instinct (over time) so that when things arise, you have the ability to make the transition to forgive and extend grace quickly.
Don't let your hurt turn into hate - it's a very slippery slope. Just because you feel offended doesn't mean you have to live an offended life.
